The Monument Rocks are one of the Eight Wonders of Kansas and are a truly unique geological formation you wouldn't expect to see in an otherwise flat area of the plains. Though there are no formal hiking trails in this area, you can enjoy a short walk around and between the rocks.
This photograph was taken with a view through the "keyhole", and the rocks in the background are nestled on the other side of the road. The winding dirt road that leads you to the Monument Rocks takes you through an unexpected and beautiful valley. Do yourself a favor and visit around sunset to enjoy an amazing evening view of Kansas!
